Dornan are currently recruiting for a Tax Manager to be based in our Head Office in Little Island Cork.

The Tax Manager will take ownership of Dornan's tax compliance across multiple jurisdictions. You will play a key role in ensuring compliance with evolving tax regulations and supporting the financial strategy of the business. The role requires working closely with finance teams, external advisors, and business leaders to proactively manage tax risks and identify planning opportunities. It also provides exciting opportunity to further develop professional skills while working across all aspects of corporate taxes.

Roles and responsibilities:

  • Tax Management

Reporting to the Group Tax Manager, the successful applicant will have exposure to all areas of tax planning across a large corporate group with both domestic and international operations.

You will have the opportunity to represent the company to external stakeholders including foreign advisers, tax authorities, subcontractors etc. where your communication and professional skills will come to the fore.

You will demonstrate autonomy in understanding day-to-day problems and arriving at solutions.

  • Corporate Tax

Working with external advisers to ensure corporation tax compliance across the group involving at least fifteen different entities and in eight countries at present.

Managing the group's R&D tax credits claims in UK and Ireland.

  • Transfer Pricing

Working with the Group Tax Manager to implement the group's transfer pricing policies.  

  • VAT Management

 Managing the group's VAT compliance across all operational jurisdictions including:

 Checking VAT/Intrastat and statistical returns prepared by team

 Dealing with VAT queries for AR/AP staff

 Monitoring and improving VAT reporting systems

 Responding to queries from tax authorities

  • International Payroll Support:

Understand the tax treatment of salary and benefits in countries the group operates in (currently eight jurisdictions). Advise management on remuneration packages.

Support the team in tax calculations required for recruitment and promotion purposes.

Have a working knowledge of the interaction of foreign payrolls with Irish/ UK payrolls and support team members work in this area.

Oversee the relationship with our external tax consultant partner for the preparation of employee tax returns.

  • Team Management:

Lead a growing team who will report directly to you.

Keep abreast of the competency of the team and plan the skills and training needed to achieve team goals.

Provide inhouse training and education to other team members. Enable team excellence by mentoring and developing the team.

  • Policy and Procedure: understand the changing landscape in international tax and how this impacts the group. Further develop policies and procedures and suggest planning opportunities in the following areas:

Corporation Tax

PAYE

Vat

Subcontractor withholding taxes

  • Personal Development

Ensure that a training plan is developed for yourself in conjunction with Group Tax Manager

Track your time management for personal effectiveness

Contribute to the morale and motivation of the tax team

Attend and contribute to the regular communication/group meetings

  • Finance Department Support

As part of the finance department, it will be necessary to provide support and backup to other sections of the accounts department and the wider company as required. You will liaise with HR, Recruitment, Purchasing, Commercial, Payroll, and Financial Reporting teams fostering a network and maintaining excellent channels of communication.

Experience & Qualifications Required:

  • Chartered Tax Adviser or equivalent professional tax qualification or working towards a tax qualification.
  • Three years experience in a tax role - practice or industry to include experience working in international tax compliance and reporting.
  • Strong IT skills to include Microsoft office and use of ERP software.
  • Ability to lead a team and possessing excellent communication skills.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Commitment to constant learning and ability to adapt to a fast-changing environment.
