Dornan are currently recruiting for a European Compliance Specialist to join our Legal, Compliance & Data Protection department. The successful candidate will work closely with the Group Director of Legal & Compliance to ensure that Dornan operates legally and ethically, in alignment with its business objectives.
Dornan are a leading Mechanical, Electrical and Instrumentation contractor with projects in Ireland, Europe and the UK. Dornan are involved in projects across many sectors such as Pharmaceutical, Power, Waste to Energy, Commercial, Data Centre and Petrochemical.
The European Compliance Specialist will be responsible for overseeing compliance across our European Projects. The role includes reviewing subcontractors documentation and providing precise compliance advice. The European Compliance Specialist will serve as the primary point of contact for subcontractors, employees, authorities, and other stakeholders in various European locations.
The goal is to ensure that Dornan operates legally and ethically, in alignment with its business objectives. The European Compliance Specialist will be part of the Dornan Legal, Compliance & Data Protection department and will work closely with the Group Director of Legal & Compliance
Role and Responsibilities:
- Travel across Europe to various offices and job sites regularly.
- Conduct due diligence to identify potential risk areas in specific countries and recommend risk mitigation actions.
- Oversee site induction processes for various compliance areas, with a particular focus on sub-contract, agency compliance on-boarding.
- Implement existing internal and external technology-enabled compliance processes and frameworks.
- Work towards real-time monitoring of compliance status, regular auditing, and escalation processes.
- Demonstratable Contract Management skills
- Implement an effective over all compliance program.
- Create internal controls and monitor adherence to them.
- Proactively audit processes, practices, and documents to identify weaknesses.
- Evaluate business activities to assess compliance risk.
- Collaborate with internal and external advisors i.e., Sub-Contractors, Agencies, Commercial, HR, Procurement, Finance, Quality, IT etc.
- Be the conduit between Dornan in driving compliance with preferred sub-contractors
- Set plans to manage crises or compliance violations.
- Educate and train employees on regulations and industry best practices.
- Report on compliance to Group Legal & Compliance Director.
Qualifications and Experience Required:
- Bachelor's degree in construction management or business management
- Compliance specific qualification is considered an advantage.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
- Previous experience working with supply chain and sub-contracting businesses.
- Experience in site compliance within the data centre and/or construction industry an advantage.
- Have a strong understanding of Supplier Relationship Management
- Pragmatic compliance professional with a hands-on mentality and the ability to think outside the box.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to establish and maintain strong relationships with various departments, supply-chain, subcontractors, and other stakeholders.
- An in-depth understanding of the complexities of working in cross-border situations
- Experience developing or improving policies and processes.
